However, in outdoor, well-ventilated areas like offshore platforms, many gas leaks can go undetected for extended periods. This is due to the quick dilution or dispersion of the leaking gases by the wind, making it challenging to ensure gas contact with the sensors.
The Gassonic MM0100 tackles this challenge by detecting the distinct ultrasonic noise the leaking gas emits. Unlike gas clouds, ultrasound is not affected by wind direction or dilution. Practical experience has shown that the ultrasonic noise emitted from a gas leak can be detected at distances of up to 20 meters!
